Shenley Green Surgery has been in existence since 1976. The List size at present is approximately 5,600 and we are served by 4 doctors, 2 male and 2 female, a practice Nurse and 8 ancillary staff We are located in a pleasant fairly heavily populated urban area of South Birmingham, mainly serving residents of the Bournville Village Trust. The Practice population has a good balance of social classes.

We always achieve top target levels for both cervical smears and childhood immunisation, as also Band 3 Health Promotion. Preventative medicine is of paramount importance at Shenley Green carrying out all health promotion work e.g.. Asthma Clinic, Diabetic Clinic, coronary disease, well person screening including diet, exercise and lifestyle. We also aim to ensure all over 75 year olds are offered a health check annually. We run Child Health Surveillance and Antenatal Clinics and carry out all minor surgery procedures. We have been an approved active training practice since 1980 and are now members of the Northfleld Primary Care Group. There is an efficient appointment system in place which owes its success to our flexible approach. We use South Doc Services Limited for patients requiring out of hours medical attention, they are advised by telephone or requested to attend the local Primary Care Surgery based near Selly Oak Hospital. An in-house counsellor is available 1 day per week and we have good post-graduate facilities as well as hospitals nearby. We offer family planning and pregnancy counselling to all our patients within the surgery environment.

We are frilly computerised using In Practice Medical System (formerly VAMP and REUTERS) and we are linked to The Birmingham Health Authority for new patient registration and items of service claiming.

We are currently awaiting final planning permission to extend the surgery to a 2 storey building providing us with 5 extra rooms and improving disabled access to the surgery.
