Our Northfleld practice (list size 10,500) has four full-time and three part-time partners. We have a long history of teaching at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels; a Registrar has been in post consecutively for over 20 years. Four partners are approved trainers, and we have extra experience in diabetes, child surveillance and family planning. Dr Barford is a video assessor for Summative Assessment purposes, Dr Ross is a Course Organiser and Dr Fleming is a well known GP researcher and is the Director of the Birmingham RCGP Research Unit.

We have carried out research into diabetes, rotavirus infection pertussis and influenza; these projects have helped foster a culture of critical appraisal of our everyday work. We are fully computerised, entering diagnoses from each consultation. Our morbidity database is first class; an ideal tool for practice-based audit. We have access to Medline and the Internet.

The practice area is regenerating rapidly with new housing developments nearby, including Birmingham Great Park. There are good local schools. The registrars workload is carefully monitored and adjusted throughout the training year. You are on call one day a week (rotating).  You are always supervised by a partner and are not used as an extra pair of hands. There is a joint surgery each week: a partner observes you consulting and offers constructive feedback. In addition you have a weekly tutorial.

Registrars attend the South Birmingham VTS half-day release course and you have a half-day for private study. Training is shared between partners, with your designated trainer, taking overall responsibility.

We offer an excellent training deal, why not speak to our previous registrars or come and see us?
