We are a five Partner suburban Practice in Kings Heath, with a list size of 7,000 patients (approx). We work as part of a Primary Care Team with our colleagues - district nurses, health visitors, chiropodists and physiotherapists, all of whom work in our medical centre. We also have two Practice Nurses who work closely with us. We have a full- time Practice Manager, a Secretary and a team of Reception staff

The Partners
We have two full-time male Partners and three part-time female Partners. We all have our own particular interests within the Practice (e.g., child health surveillance, minor surgery, gastroenterology, family planning etc). Some Partners also have related interests outside of the Practice (e.g., Primary Care Group meetings, South Doc out of hours cover, endoscopy sessions, and family planning clinics).

The Training
We like to include the Registrar as part of the Primary Health Care Team, and hope that he/she will learn to work with our doctors, nurses, staff and other colleagues, as preparation for a career in General Practice. We include regular periods of protected teaching time, and try to provide a flexible curriculum which can be directed by both the trainer and the Registrar.

There is a lot of hard work and learning in the twelve months as a Registrar in General Practice, but we aim to make the experience as interesting and enjoyable as possible.
